Hair Removal
AKA: Laser Hair Removal, Chemical Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is a non invasive technique to eliminate undesirable hair from any part of the body. Laser removal treats large areas effectively removing more than 1 hair at a time. There is minimal pain involved. It takes multiple treatments to acquire desired results. Blonde/white or gray hair is less responsive to laser treatments. Patients with darker skin pigmentation may not respond as well to laser treatments.
The Procedure
Laser hair removal is a nonsurgical cosmetic procedure. Hair is removed as a low energy laser passes through the skin which gets absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle. A percentage of the follicles are permanently disabled with each treatment. In most cases anesthesia is not necessary.
Recuperation
There may be reddening of the skin or slight swelling. Special skin care products may be advised and sunscreen is necessary on treated areas when exposed to sunlight. Multiple treatments will be necessary to achieve desired results for permanent hair loss. Please discuss with your surgeon beforehand your expectations and a treatment plan for your desired results.
